Desha Smarr, Joseph Cole, Deshanda Smarr and Cantrell Foster, support CVS Health's decision to end tobacco product sales.

Our Youth Advocates, all Atlanta high school students, attended and participated in an anti-tobacco leadership training hosted by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.  Team members Joseph Cole, Deshanda Smarr, Desha Smarr, and Cantrell Foster traveled to Washington, D.C., July 13-17 where they joined more than 30 youth advocates from across the country to share ideas and participate in skill-building workshops on leadership, advocacy, and communications.

As part of the Youth Advocacy Symposium, the youth advocates met with their members of Congress to discuss the tobacco companies’ latest marketing strategies and urge support for policies to protect kids.

Our youth are particularly passionate about this topic because it is something that they see every day in their neighborhood convenient stores. They are continuing their efforts in their communities to bring a spotlight on these marketing strategies by conducting environmental scans to observe and document how tobacco products are advertised to youth.
They also found a way to show their support to CVS Pharmacy for no longer selling tobacco products.
